There's every possibility that Royel Otis is the hottest rising band of the summer. They're appearing at every festival under the sun, their single "moody" just hit number one on the Alternative Radio charts, and now they've dropped the news all their flocking new fans have been waiting for: their sophomore album, hickey, will be released August 22 on OURNESS / Capitol Records.

Royel Otis, comprised of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, have been doing most of the teasing of the content of the new album in the way that all great bands do - in front of their fans. Dabbling in new music across appearances at festivals like NYC's Governor's Ball and the UK's Glastonbury Festival, the band has ramped up the hype that's already been building behind their appearances at the Troubadour in LA earlier this year and the growing success of the project's lead single.

hickey is the follow-up to the Australian duo's 2024 debut PRATTS & PAIN, emerging as a cleaner, more confident evolution of their sun-soaked indie rock, with the album's tracklisting leaning on “moody,” “car,” and “say something” to capture the thrill of youth and the chaos of growing up. hickey is available for pre-order in physical formats, including signed albums.
