Bursting with energy from start to finish, The Wrecks (Nick Anderson, Nick Schmidt, Aaron Kelley, and Billy Nally) delivered an electrifying performance at Riverside Municipal Auditorium as part of their Inside: Outside Tour (continued). Opening with “Sonder,” the band immediately set the tone, with the crowd screaming along to the poignant lines: “All I wanted was proof that you cared about others / All I wanted was proof that you understand Sonder.” From the first note, the energy in the room was palpable.
The band followed up with back-to-back heavy hitters, including “Out of Style” and “Always, Everytime,” the first single from their latest album Inside. Frontman Nick Anderson’s high-octane performance even led to a humorous moment when he admitted, laughing, “I definitely just smacked myself with my mic, and I’m bleeding,” to which a fan yelled, “It’s not that bad!” prompting Nick to grin, “Alright, it’s not that bad.”
The night continued with fan favorites like “I Love This Part,” with the audience belting out every word: “You took me for a fool when you took my hand / Who the fuck are you when I'm not your man? / Now you're nothing but a fan.” One fan even brought a sign reading, “Nicky Poo, will you write my next tattoo,” sparking a playful back-and-forth with the band deciding which Nick she was referring to, before Schmizz obliged and wrote her tattoo right there on the spot.
Other highlights included “I Didn’t Use To,” “Where Are You Now?,” and “Four,” each performed with the infectious energy that has become synonymous with a Wrecks show. Circle pits, crowd surfers, and fans singing along with unbridled passion during “This Life I Have” and “Fvck Somebody” made it clear, there is no other live experience quite like this.
A particularly memorable moment came during “Soapbox,” which Nick dedicated to a fan who screamed loudly from the crowd while he was introducing the song. The band’s playful antics continued as Aaron and Nick got down off the stage and tossed water into the crowd, keeping the audience hydrated as the intensity climbed. Nick summed it up perfectly: “The amount of excitement I feel in this show is like two shows in one.”
The set rounded out with “Milwaukee’s Best” and “Speed,” the audience singing along to every line: “If I could run away, I would / Make new friends, all new plans / Take my act to Hollywood / Just imagine what could happen.” The emotional “Infinitely, Ordinary” closed the main set, with Nick taking a moment to thank fans for showing up early to support the opening acts.
“Turn It Up” and “Favorite Liar” sealed the night with a final goodbye, leaving the audience drenched in sweat, exhilaration, and pure adrenaline. By the end, it was clear: a Wrecks show isn’t just a concert, it’s a full sensory experience, a celebration of music, chaos, and the immersive world they’ve built with Inside.
