Nightly Announces New Album, 'Baseball in America,' Out August 21

Nightly has stepped back up to the plate with their third studio album in the last 18 months, BASEBALL IN AMERICA. The indie-pop band has shifted into an Americana aesthetic with their most recent single releases, "blue jeans," "AMERICAN BABY," and "angel in the outfield," which they've been releasing over the last few months. The new album will be released August 21, just ten months after their last album, THE VOID, which includes "1989," one of their biggest hits to date.
On the new album, lead singer Jonny Capeci shared, "The inspiration for this album came in the strangest way. I was home visiting my family in Pennsylvania for Christmas and went to one of my favorite thrift stores. In the store, I saw this book with big bold letters that said 'Baseball in America,' so I picked it up and started flipping through. It was filled with these beautiful film photos from the '80s and '90s. Yes, they were pictures of baseball fields and players, but it was so much more than that. It was the outfits of the people in the stands, the cars they drove, inner city fields in The Bronx to dusty dugouts in Texas, Little League grass stains to Friday night lights. I can't really explain it but it felt like the first time you watch Sandlot. It wasn't about the sport as much as how the pictures captured the culture around it, what it was like to be a kid in America in the '90s. So after flipping through the book all Christmas break I came back to Nashville and told the guys about the book and we dove into making an album that felt the same way those pictures felt."
